It is defined as a disorder in which there is a degeneration of the nerve. It is referred as the GSS. It is not a common condition and affects the people above the age of 20. It is a rare condition. The number of new cases of the disease is not known and is thought to be 1 per million. The familial cases are linked with the autosomal dominant.
It includes the slow starting problem in the speaking as well as unsteadiness. It may lead to dementia in the later stages along with the loss of memory.
