It is defined as a condition in which there is a formation of red blood cells which have spikes on it and are related to the human biology and medicine. These cells are irregular and coarse like and resemble a multiple pointed stars. They are seen on the blood films.

What are the signs and symptoms of Acanthocytosis?

It is mainly seen in the liver diseases, chorea acantho cytosis, abeta lipo proteinemia and Mc Leod syndrome. It is seen in the other neurological conditions which are inherited. It includes the neuro acantho cytosis.

What is the treatment of Acanthocytosis?

There is no specific treatment for this disorder. It is incurable and leads to the pre mature death of the individual.
