It includes the use of visual examination and a patient history. One must also go for a physical examination. In most of the cases it is quite successful. One must identify the cause first as it can be due to the heart disease or the lung diseases. The other diagnostic tests can be the chest x rays, analysis of the urine and the blood tests such as electrolytes, lipase as well as liver function tests. The other important test can be normal films of the abdomen. One can also go for the ECG so that the heart attack can be ruled out. If the diagnosis is not clear one can go for the advanced investigation such as the ultra sound or a computed tomography which is known as the CT. The other possible options can be colonoscopy as well as endo scopy.
